Just launched a Kickstarter to try to raise funds for the physical manufacture of my new album
So much creative stuff has been happening over the last month - it's been amazing! The latest has been that I was one of fourteen emerging artists to be chosen to take part in the Artistic Director Series with the Mercury Prize-nominated singer ESKA.
Just returned from three great previews of the new album Life On Land.
For something slightly different I'm singing and playing with Brazilian band Samba Azul tomorrow night at the Salisbury on Green Lanes
We had a lovely gig at The Stables Theatre the other night - our first gig previewing original music from my new album. It was fantastic to play at a venue that symbolises the rich heritage of British jazz.
Well, I'm very excited to be recording a video for one of my tracks from the upcoming album. The location is the Hideaway in Streatham and we're going to try to capture some of the atmosphere experienced at a jazz jam which is the subject of the song 'The Jazzman'.
It's been a busy few months trying to set up a tour for the release of my new album 'Life On Land'. In the interim, I've been doing quite a few fun 'standards' gigs playing music from the Great American Songbook.
I'm very pleased to say that in May I finished recording my debut album 'Life On Land' at Eastcote Studios in London. It was a fabulous experience - the studio vibe was really relaxed and the band were really supportive. The album features Adam Osmianski on drums, Henrik Jensen on double bass and Rob Luft on guitar plus a couple of special guests.
Look what came in the post this morning...
Just flew back from the Cork Jazz Festival in Ireland yesterday where we did 10 gigs in 4 days! It was pretty exhausting but a lot of fun.
It was a great privilege to present a paper entitled 'Women & the Jazz Jam' at the 14th International JazzForum in Darmstadt. We just returned from a weekend of interesting discussions and fascinating talks. Our paper will be published at the beginning of next year along with all the other papers from the conference.
